There are plenty of instances across the United States where an age limit is abided by for trick-or-treating.

In Chesapeake, Virginia, you could receive a fine that can be given to anyone over the age of 12 trick-or-treating.

Similarly, in Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey,  the cut-off age is 12 years old. Lastly, the city of Charleston, South Carolina has an age limit of 16 years old.

Michigan & Trick Or Treating

In Michigan, this is the burning question on everyone’s minds (and by “everyone,” I mean the parents tired of finding candy for kids which turns into a full-time job).

So, here’s the scoop: Michigan doesn’t have an official age limit for trick-or-treating.

So, you could run into a 30-year-old dressed as a pizza slice or BBL Drizzy knocking on your door.

However, some cities have taken it upon themselves to establish their own unofficial guidelines, which often suggest that kids over the age of 12 might want to hang up their capes and let the little ones enjoy the candy chaos.

While there’s no law against older trick-or-treaters, it’s all about common sense.

If you see a teenager lurking at your door, maybe ask them if they brought a younger sibling—or just hand them a granola bar and send them on their way.

So, while the great trick-or-treating debate rages on, remember: Halloween is all about fun, candy, and embracing your inner child—no matter your age!
