Michigan AT&T Customers May Have Been Part Of Hack
Do you have AT&T as your phone provider?
Have you heard the news about the massive data breach?
You can be affected and not even know it. Here are the details you need to know.

AT&T Data Breach Affects Millions Including Michigan Users
On early Friday, July 12th, AT&T announced that the call and text message records of tens of millions of customers and non-customers in mid-to-late 2022 were leaked in a HUGE data breach.
"Nearly all" the telephone numbers of AT&T's customers between May 1st, 2022, and October 31st, 2022 have been compromised.
The company also reported that that data of a "very small number" of AT&T customers on January 2nd, 2023 were also leaked
Thankfully, the actual content of the calls and text messages have not been exposed, according to the communication company. AT&T also believes that customers' names have not been exposed during this data breach.
As of our publication date, the company does not believe that the exposed data has been released publicly.
Why is this happening? Why were customers' data breached in the first place?
Well, AT&T is saying that it is because of an "illegal download" on a third-party platform. The company shared that they learned about this back in April of this year.
A "threat actor claimed to have unlawfully accessed and copied AT&T call logs.” So, AT&T "immediately" hired experts to determine the hackers and the exposed files between April 14th and April 25th.
CNN shared that AT&T had roughly 110 million wireless users by the end of 2022. That means that most of the 110 million people are affected by this data breach!
How Do You Know If You Were Affected In The Data Breach?
AT&T is promising to notify all current and former customers whose information was leaked. They also promise to provide resources to protect your information.
