Most Cryptid Creatures tend to stay in their designated areas. Bigfoot in the woods, Yeti in the snowy mountains, and obviously Nessie can't move much outside of Loch Ness.

But apparently, the Chupacabra gets around and was spotted WAY outside of its normal home in the American Southwest: in Central Michigan.

Authorities in Midland County, Michigan received an odd report recently, and despite what anyone calls police about, if there's reason to investigate, they DO have to give all of the information provided.

So, when a woman called the Midland County Sheriff's office to report a "Chupacabra" sighting, they had to relay the message to deputies in the field.

Can imagine the looks on their faces when that call came in.... and the long pause before one deputy says, "Could you go again with the animal?"

Then the shade of one of the deputies to say, "There's been a high amount of sightings for those in that area lately by the way!"

I seriously have no idea how they made it through that radio call without cracking up on the mics. There's no way I could have done it.

The department did issue the following statement alongside the audio...

"About 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, a 40-year-old woman called 911 to say a chupacabra and a capybara were inside and outside in her apartment in Jerome Township, Michigan.
Police have confirmed there were no mythological creatures roaming Midland County."

So it turns out, there was no Chupacabra... at least in Michigan. Also, why are the Chupacabra and a Capybara hanging out together? Seems like an odd pairing.

Later, authorities made direct contact with the woman to figure out exactly what she thought she had seen. Maybe it was mistaken identity of a dog, cat, or even a bear.

"Jerome Township Sheriff Myron Greene said the woman later provided some insight on why she thought she saw the animals. 'After that, she said she was coming off using some intoxicated substances.'"

AH, so there WERE mythological creatures, just all in her head. I have no doubt a Chupacabra could have made it up here to Michigan, but a Capybara... THAT seems far-fetched.

Drugs are bad, kids.
