Michigan Free Fishing Weekend is Feb. 16 – 17
Michigan's annual winter Free Fishing Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday, February 16-17.
Anyone can fish for free and a license is not required.
The Michigan DNR says all other fishing regulations still apply.
Throughout this weekend as well, state parks will waive the Recreation Passport entry fee normally required for vehicle entry.
While you're free to bundle up and head out on your own, there are also special fishing events scheduled throughout the state:
- February 16- 9th Annual Ryan Williams Perch Derby (Pentwater)
- February 16- Dam to Dam 2019 (Newaygo)
- February 16- Bald Mountain Recreation Area - Rec 101: Intro to Fishing (Lake Orion)
- February 16- Park Lake Ice Fishing Event (East Lansing)

The next Free Fishing Weekend is June 8 - 9, 2019.
