What Can You Not Bring Through TSA?

In an interesting twist of events, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is now confiscating your protein shakes, too!

Why? It is just a drink or meal replacement. What is so harmful about protein shakes?

Well, it is because the powder looks a lot like explosives on the x-ray.

Even if it’s in a shaker, airport bomb squads will absolutely need to check it out. However, that does not mean you have to travel without your daily dose of protein. You just need to be strategic.

You are most likely wondering why this is being written about. Well, as I was scrolling on X, formerly known as Twitter, I came across a tweet that caught my attention.

To help you with this situation, the TSA considers protein powder sort of like a ‘liquid.’

Anything more than 12 ounces has to be bagged and separated into a different bin, like a laptop (or your shoes.)

According to the TSA website,

"Powder-like substances greater than 12 oz. / 350 mL must be placed in a separate bin for X-ray screening. They may require additional screening and containers may need to be opened. For your convenience, we encourage you to place non-essential powders greater than 12 oz. in checked bags."

If you are ever wondering what you can or cannot bring on your flight as you travel this season, the TSA website has a full travel checklist for you to use.

Now, the real question is, what can you bring on the plane with you?
