Did You Know That Michigan Has a Massive $4 Million Splash Pad?
I have seen a lot of splash pads in my day but nothing like the one that cost $4 million to make and is the largest of its kind in Michigan.
Having a young son who loves water, I'm no stranger to visiting a few splash pads. What an easy way for my son and one of his buddies to have a good time while I kick back and get caught up with news on my phone.
If you are looking to visit Michigan's largest splash pad, this one is not just down the street but on the other side of the state. From the looks of this monster splash pad, it may be worth the drive.
I'm already thinking of taking my son and nephew there next summer when I visit my parents who live about 45 minutes from West Bloomfield, Michigan.
According to MLive, the largest splash pad in Michigan is called Lily Pad Springs. You can find it at 6200 Farmington Road. This park is massive with 50 play areas for kids, four water slides and, check this out, they have a splash bucket that dumps 55 gallons of water. Now that will cool you off on a hot summer day for sure.
We have some pretty nice splash parks here in West Michigan, but I have yet to see anything like Lily Pad Springs. It's almost like a splash pad/water park.
This park is a beast with 6,000 gallons of treated water that runs through the system with nearly 750 gallons of water that get pumped each minute.
If you are thinking of making the trip, Lily Pad Springs is open seven days a week that features three two-hour sessions per day. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Nonresidents pay $6 per session per person, while residents of West Bloomfield pay $4 per session.
It's best to buy tickets in advance on their website or give them a buzz at 248.451.1900.
If West Bloomfield is too far to take the kids, below is a list of splash pads here in West Michigan:
