Michigan Travel Alert: Warning Posted for 3 Popular Destinations
While summer is wrapping up, there are still travel plans being secured.
Before you book a flight, there are travel advisory warnings that all Michiganders should be aware of.
The U.S. Department Of State Travel Warnings
As a safety precaution, the United States Department of State shared vital information for all American travelers abroad and domestically.
Recently, the Department of State revised travel warnings for three specific destinations. These three destinations are not what a typical traveler would deem as a "red flag."
The agency has created a four-tiered warning system to explain how much of a "red flag" that area is.
From Level 1 ("exercise normal precautions") to Level 4 ("Do Not Travel"), you will know exactly what to do or not do.
Which places is the Department of State warning Americans about?
As for Caribbean destinations, the Department of State has issued a Level 1 advisory for travelers going to the Cayman Islands.
While this does not mean you should not go to the Cayman Islands, you should use precautions when visiting.
As for the other two destinations, the United Kingdom and Italy have been raised to Level 2 status this fall.
The advisory is urging all travelers to exercise "extreme caution" while in these two countries due to terror threats.
The agency is also reminding travelers to be aware of potential threats while in large public areas, such as hotels, clubs, and any other gathering locations.
Keep in mind that these advisories are not telling you to not visit these countries. You simply must be more vigilant while on vacation.
While these advisories have been increased or announced, there are still multiple advisories for destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean, including The Bahamas and Jamaica.
