Bill Burr's 'Friends Who Kill' Debuted This Week

Bill, who will be performing in Grand Rapids in November, debuted a new comedy special, 'Friends Who Kill', on Netflix this week, in which he features some of his comedian friends who he feels are really funny.

Some were well known stand ups like Jimmy Carr, Jeff Ross, Dave Atell and Michelle Wolf. Others were some relative newcomers, getting some much needed national exposure, like Ian Edwards and Steph Tolev. In all ten comics do some time on the show, which was taped at the Netflix Is A Joke Festival last month in Los Angeles.

The Show Is Tagged As 'Raunchy' By Netflix

The show is adult in nature, and is described by Netflix as "...a night of killer comedy, Bill Burr hosts a showcase of his most raucous stand-up comic pals as they riff on everything from COVID to Michael Jackson."

I found the special to be hit and miss, with some of the topical stuff missing the mark, while some comics were spot on. For me, a couple of young comics stole the show, notably Ian Edwards who did a set that had me laughing with jokes about gender reveal parties and comparing sex trafficking to real traffic.

Steph Tolev, a Canadian comic, also had a great set which was extremely raunchy, talking mostly about her experiences dating in Los Angeles.

While she admitted that the pandemic made her land more quality men, she name dropped Grand Rapids, which was kind of surprising. After saying she's 'a boiled ham' in LA, she admitted that in Grand Rapids she is a 'hot piece' and then described something nice that happened to her here. You can watch the clip below. The Grand Rapids reference is at 1:35. One last warning, it is very descriptive in it's language.

Steph was just here in January, performing at Billy's, The Listening Room and Rockford Lanes, and it appears that she had a very good time.
