One Dead, Three Injured in Shooting Downtown Grand Rapids
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Armonie Lee Acklin. According to the GRPD, the Kent County Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy and ruled the death a homicide. Wood TV 8 reports that Acklin leaves behind three young children with another baby on the way.
Police have not released details on what lead up to the shooting.
ORIGINAL STORY: Police are investigating a shooting downtown Grand Rapids early Sunday in which one person was killed and three more were injured.
According to the GRPD, the shooting happened around 12:15a.m. on in the 100 block of Pearl St. NW.
The downtown block lies between Monroe and Ottawa Avenues and is home to Mojo's Dueling Piano Bar, Flanagan's Irish Pub, Sundance Grill, and other businesses.
Police say one victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name has not been released, as family is still being notified.
Three other people were injured and taken to area hospitals. Their injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
