Anytime you make a trip to Chicago it's not complete without getting a Portillo's hot dog, and now a trip to the Windy City won't be necessary because the famous hot dog chain is opening its first location in Michigan.

In a press release from the company,

We’re packing all of our Chicago-style favorites for the road trip to the Golden Corridor of Sterling Heights.

Okay, so for us in West MI some travel will still be required, but the way I see it, at least you don't have to pay for any tolls along the way LOL.

In addition to their delicious dogs, Portillo's will also serve burgers, Italian beef sandwiches, salads and their mouthwatering chocolate cake.

The restaurant will be replacing the building of a former Italian restaurant and is expected to open in the second half of 2021 so it's going to be a while but definitely worth the wait. They say the decor will represent the Motor City with an "automotive theme."

According to ClickOnDetroit, the restaurant will seat 180 people and have a 50-person patio plus double drive-thru's.

Portillo's CEO said for years Michiganders have been asking for a Portillo's.

We can’t wait to be a part of such a great, thriving community in Sterling Heights.

I've got my fingers crossed that they eventually plan on expanding and bringing a location to the west side of the state. Currently, Portillo's has locations in 8 states.
