Presidential Museum Honors Ford and Former First Lady Saturday
Saturday the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum celebrated it’s namesake’s 105th birthday with a wreath-laying ceremony and a new monument honoring his late wife, according to WZZM 13.
The day started off with the wreath-laying ceremony at Ford’s tomb which is on the grounds of the museum. It was then followed by the unveiling of a statue of Betty Ford who would have been 100 this year, welcoming museum visitors outside the front door of the presidential museum.
The statue also features a famous quote from the former First Lady, reading “Being ladylike does not require silence.” Very fitting for 2018.
According to WWZM 13, there’s also a special exhibit entitled "In Step with Betty Ford: A Celebration of Her Centennial", which will be on display until January 6, 2019, according to the museum’s website.
