Prodigy’s Mural Vandalized in Queensbridge: ‘This Is Some Sucker S—‘ [PHOTO]
In less than 24 hours, a mural honoring the late Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy has been vandalized in Queensbridge, N.Y.
On Friday (July 7), artists Jeff Henriquez and Eli Lazare unveiled their artwork, which was painted across the street from the Queensbridge Houses project. The mural bears an almost exact likeness of P showing off his arms to reveal the words “Mobb Deep.”
Now it’s totally defaced with what looks like white paint splatter smeared all over the mural (see the photo above). “This is some sucker s---,” wrote Cormega who posted a picture of the defaced artwork on his Instagram page.
Henrique and Lazare have yet to make a public statement about the vandalism but we are quite sure they won't be happy about it. In an interview with DNAInfo New York, the artistic pair wanted to honor Prodigy for his influence in the rap game. “His deep and meaningful lyrics inspired and influenced many young rappers and followers,” they said.
News of the vandalism has sparked outrage on social media. Here are some reactions below.
