The statement released last week stating that singer R. Kelly is "heartbroken" by recent allegations is being disavowed by his management.

Billboard reports that an email sent by Katie Thompson on behalf of R. Kelly Tours stated that the media was attempting to destroy Kelly's legacy by reporting allegations of sexual misconduct. Kelly's management has since revealed that the email wasn't authorized, and released the statement without permission.

“The person who released the statement did so without authorization and without talking to the star, and she isn’t an employee of R. Kelly management,” the statement expressed. “The singer and his manager had no idea of who she was. We have learned she was employed by a professional services firm, and that she has been fired for putting out the unauthorized statement.”

The original statement was released the same day Buzzfeed and The Washington Post released articles highlighting the singer's alleged sexual misconduct. The Buzzfeed article highlighted two new women who have accused Kelly of sexual, mental and physical abuse. Also as we previously reported, TMZ released a phone call between Kelly and a 20-year-old woman who has filed a criminal complaint against him for drugging her and giving her an STD when she was 19.

In 2008 the singer was found not guilty on child pornography charges. Currently, Kelly isn't facing any criminal charges.
