Hip-hop heavyweights Rick Ross, The-Dream and Roc Nation VP of A&R Lenny S are looking for the next hip-hop and R&B superstar on VH1’s new show, SIGNED.

The music competition reality series follows new up-and-coming rappers and singers as they go through a tough A&R development process with the hopes of either signing with Ross’ Maybach Music Group, Dream’s Radio Killa Records or to Roc Nation by Lenny S. Unlike similar shows, like American Idol, the contestants will not be judged at an elaborate production studio. Instead, they will perform at various places in Atlanta including recording studios, The-Dream’s mansion, Rozay’s private jet and other places where music and creativity happens.

Contestants will have to learn how to write, record and perform a song in these locations to prove they can create under theses conditions and impress the three judges. Among the rappers and producers who will make cameo appearances include Meek Mill, DJ Khaled and Bangladesh.

The eight-episode series concludes with a finale performance showcase where Ross, The-Dream and Lenny S determine who’s getting signed to a major record label.

"They better be dope, because I’m not with being no talent show judge, I’m the Barry Gordy of the Ghetto," said Ross about the show.

SIGNED is executive produced by Mark Burnett, who has developed other successful reality music competitions shows like The Voice.

“What an incredible opportunity it has been to bring together these cutting edge, one-of-a-kind music moguls who are at the top their games,” said Burnett in a statement. “Watching them discover and mentor the next greatest talents in hip-hop and R&B is a new type of gritty music competition.”

SIGNED will premiere on July 26 at 9 p.m. ET on VH1.
