The situation has become so severe that New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued an executive order and declared a State of Emergency to help facilitate emergency salt deliveries.

While the shortage has not affected Michigan yet, Metro Detroit stores are starting to stock up on rock salt just in case.

With Michigan often experiencing sub-zero temperatures and icy road and sidewalk conditions, the lack of rock salt is coming at the worst time!
