Rockford, Michigan's, high school stadium may be getting a new name.

According to WZZM, The Ted Carlson Memorial Stadium may become the Carlson - Munger Stadium.

Coming up at the next board meeting on January 27, Rockford Public Schools Superintendent Michael Shibler is going to shoot for the name change.

The current name started in 1991 after a trustee on the Rockford Board of Education, Ted Carlson, who was dubbed the "super fan" of Rockford sports.

Ralph Munger was hired to coach the varsity football team in 1992 and he made a huge impact on their program in his 27 year tenure.

The board wants to change the name to honor both Carlson and Munger whom both men exemplify Ram pride.

The Rams won three MHSAA Division 1 state titles, were in the playoffs 25 times in a row and had six undefeated regular seasons under Mungers leadership. He wrapped up his career with the Rams with a 75% win/loss career record.

Munger has since retired and Brent Cummings has been hired to be the new coach of the Rockford Rams. Cummings is no stranger to the program since he has been the assistant coach to Munger for years.
