Russell Simmons Claims Rape Accuser Sent Him Nude Photos
Russell Simmons steps forth to defend himself from another sexual misconduct allegation. According to TMZ, the 60-year-old business mogul claims that Jennifer Jarosik, who has accused Simmons of raping her, is after his money, and that she sought out a relationship with him through texts and nude photos.
In official court documents, Simmons' attorneys say he has known Jarosik since meeting her sometime around the year 2006. They maintain that most of the communication between Simmons and Jarosik came mostly from Jarosik herself, and that the two engaged in consensual sexual relationship for over a decade. On January 24, Jarosik alleged filed a $5 million lawsuit alleging that Simmons sexually assaulted her in 2011 and multiple times throughout 2016.
The doc also alleges that, in addition to regular messages, Jarosik sent Simmons unsolicited nude images of herself after he allegedly assaulted her in 2016.
Simmons' lawyers claim that Jarosik continually messaged her about funding for "various film, television and book projects" between the fall of 2016 and December 2017, but Simmons was mostly unresponsive. They allege that Jarosik never made any mention of him sexually assaulting her in any of her emails, and she accused Simmons of raping her "after hearing that women were able to recover money for real abuse by actual sexual predators."
In November 2017, Simmons purportedly agreed to give Jarosik a few thousand dollars for her film, Goddess, a movie in which he was also being interviewed. In December, she allegedly asked the Def Jam co-founder to be re-interviewed so that he could address the numerous sexual misconduct allegations against him. According to Russell's most recent court filings, he declined, and Jarosik subsequently filed a $5 million lawsuit against him.
Also included in the new legal docs are claims that courts have previously found Jarosik to be someone with "propensity to exaggerate" and "untreated mental health issues." Simmons' lawyers are now requesting for a trial by jury.
