Ryan Phillippe Freestyles on ‘Sway in the Morning’ and Big Ups JAY-Z [WATCH]
Ryan Phillippe, the longtime actor and well-known hip-hop head, recently stopped by Sway in the Morning and freestyled.
But instead of coming off the top, like fellow thespian Shia LaBeouf did when he came on the show, Phillippe recited rhymes from his phone and shouted out artists like Nate Dogg and Sean Price. If you didn't know, the Crash star got a tattoo of the late Brooklyn rapper in 2015 after he passed away.
"If I'm gonna take a shot I ain't planning on missing / Bob Lee swagger with the Smith & Wesson / But I can Duck Down too / Got P tatted on my arm, so I keep Ruck around too," he spit.
And later during his freestyle, the talented actor used two of his films as metaphors and talked some smack.
"Crash into me with Cruel Intentions / And I'll take away your girl and do some things we won't mention," he said.
Like many are doing in hip-hop right now, Phillppe also talked about JAY-Z's 4:44 album, and he said it touches on many of the things he's going through. Plus, the 42-year-old said that he and his friend, fellow actor Omar Epps, spoke about the LP a lot.
"We spent a lot of time recently talking about 4:44 because at our ages and being fathers, I find the whole thing to be an education, nothing but knowledge for men over a certain age and even younger men too ... I feel like what Jay is trying to do with it, is like show you the road-map for doing things the right way or a better way. I listened to the album probably six, seven times since it came out, and I'm finding new stuff in it all the time."
You can check out Phillippe's interview above and hear his freestyle at the 22-minute mark.
