Over the past few months, the pageant world has been shaken up due to the former Miss USA 2023, Noelia Voigt, and former Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, resigning their titles.

While many have been confused and wondering what will happen in the pageant world, Michigan's very own has taken the world by storm.

Miss USA 2024 Pageant

On Sunday, August 4th, the Miss USA 2024 pageant was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.

During this competition, it was announced that Miss Michigan Alma Cooper is officially the new Miss USA 2024.

Let's get to know Miss USA 2024, Alma Cooper!

Miss Michigan 2024

Alma holds more titles than just Miss Michigan 2024 and now Miss USA 2024.

As a lifelong Michigander raised in Okemos, the 22-year-old is a second lieutenant and military intelligence officer in the US Army!

She graduated from West Point Military Academy in the top 5% of her class. In addition to that incredible feat, she is a Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University, where she is pursuing a master's in data science!

We LOVE an educated queen!

When asked "How could we bridge the gap between different cultures and foster understanding and respect," Alma responded with the best answer possible.

"As the daughter of a migrant worker, a proud Afro-Latina woman, and an officer of the United States Army, I'm living the American dream. If there's anything that my life and my mother have taught me, it's that your circumstances never define your destiny."

Winning the Miss USA title is a dream for many women across the nation, however, this win means something different for Alma.

"I would have the opportunity to show that if you can see me, you can be me. I want to show that through demanding excellence, success is accessible."
