Shooting Fireworks on Memorial Day Could Result in $1,000 Fine
I know we posted about the fireworks laws as we went into this weekend, but here it is Monday, Memorial Day, and you may have missed our earlier story, (yes I'm talking to my neighbors who are still shooting off bottle rockets) but new state law makes it illegal to shoot fireworks today.
According to ABC 12, the new state law, that took effect in December 2018, we now have only 12 days a year we can shoot fireworks, legally. The new law allows for fireworks Memorial day weekend but not Memorial Day. So from Midnight Saturday morning through 11:59 pm on Sunday night, you could shoot all the fireworks you wanted.
Today, Memorial Day, if you are caught shooting fireworks, police can ticket you and the fine could be up to $1,000, as ABC 12 reports.
