Skull of 2014 Kent Co. Murder Victim Found
The skull of a man who was murdered in Kent Count in 2014 has been discovered in Alpine Twp.
FOX-17 reports that a skull found March 26 in Alpine Township has been positively identified as that of 25-year-old Charles Oppenneer. Oppenneer and his fiancee, Brooke Slocum, were murdered in July of 2014 by a man that they met on Craigslist. Slocum's unborn baby also died.
Oppenneer was murdered in Gezon Park in Wyoming, Mich. after being lured there by Brady Oestrike. Oppenneer's body was found in the park, but his head was missing.
Oestrike took Slocum hostage in his home for several days, and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the Burton St. overpass of US-131. Slocum's body was found in the trunk of his car.
Oppenneer's skull was positively identified using dental records. WOOD-TV8 reports that the medical examiner believes that he was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
