With NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick having yet to sign with a team, director Spike Lee is taking matters into his own hands and is organizing a rally at the NFL headquarters in New York City.

Taking place on Aug. 23, Lee tweeted a flyer for the event which read, “United We Stand Rally for Colin Kaepernick.” According to the flyer, the rally will take place at 5 p.m. at the league’s offices on 345 Park Avenue in New York. It’s uncertain what the event will consist of but many believe the quarterback has been blackballed by the league after taking a stand against police brutality during the 2016 NFL season by refusing to stand for the National Anthem.

After throwing for 2,241 yards with 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 12 games last season, Kaepernick obviously still has skill and could help many teams out. But unfortunately for the quarterback, only one team -- the Seattle Seahawks -- brought him in for a tryout.

On Sunday, Seahawks wide receiver, Doug Baldwin, said he believed NFL owners were attempting to send a message by not signing Kaepernick.

“My original position was I thought that the situation last year with him taking a knee didn't have anything to do with it,” Baldwin said, according to ESPN’s Sheil Kapadia. “After viewing what's going on, I've got to take that back. I definitely think that the league, the owners are trying to send a message of, 'Stay in between the lines.'”
