Popeye taught us that eating spinach will make you strong but this particular spinach will only make you sick.

According to the FDA, Dole Fresh Vegetables has issued a voluntary recall for baby spinach after testing positive for salmonella.

...a sample of Baby Spinach which yielded a positive result for Salmonella in a random sample test conducted by the Department of Agriculture in Michigan.

The recall affects their 6 oz and 10 oz bags which both have a "use by" date of August 5, 2019. Because it's expired it will not be in stores but there's a possibility of it being in people's fridges. The spinach was sold at retailers across 10 states, including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.

The recall does not affect any other Dole products.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. It's most dangerous to young kids, the elderly or pregnant women.
