While more than 60% of people want the time to stay the same year-round, according to the Weather Channel, Daylight Saving Time is still a thing.
If people don't like it, then why is Daylight Saving Time a thing?
It started in the U.S. in 1918 as a way to cut energy costs during World War I, according to the U.S. Department of Defense. It came and went over the years and was signed into federal law in 1966, which is also when official time zones were designated.
Also, author Michael Downing shared in an interview with Time Magazine that the time change was also due to how Amtrak and railroads change their clocks.
Sunday morning at 2 a.m. was when they would interrupt the least amount of train travel around the country,
So, when is the change happening exactly?

The anticipated time change will happen on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 2 a.m.
Sadly, you will be LOSING an hour of sleep when the clocks "spring forward" so keep that in mind when you wake up a little more groggy than usual.
This Daylight Savings Time will continue until Sunday, November 3, 2024.
The clock will "fall back" an hour in November. That is when you can go back to your extra hour of sleep.
