The man accused of hitting and killing two people in downtown Grand Rapids Saturday night appeared in court Tuesday morning.

WZZM-13 reports that 44-year-old Jason Steven McCann was arraigned in 61st District Court on two felony charges of leaving the scene of a deadly crash, and two felony charges of reckless driving causing death. Each of these counts carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

McCann is accused of hitting Todd and Tracy Fuhr Saturday night near The Woods bar in downtown Grand Rapids and then fleeing the scene. Both of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

McCann (who also goes by the alias Jason Davideit), was arrested Sunday morning. Police are unclear if alcohol was a factor in the crash as McCann wasn't apprehended until hours after it occured.

McCann does have a record of driving under the influence, however. He plead guilty twice (once in 2004 and once in 2016) to driving while intoxicated.

The judge deemd McCann to be a flight risk and set a cash surety bond at $100,000. If McCann makes bail, he will have to wear a tether until his trial.
