Texas Billionaire To Pay College Debt Of Morehouse Grads

You've more than likely already heard the awesome story of a Black billionaire pledging to pay off all the college debts of graduates at Atlanta's Morehouse College but did you know that he's from right here in Central Texas?

Robert F. Smith is the founder and CEO of Vista Equity Partners, a technology investment firm that has its headquarters in the Frost Bank Tower in Austin. Smith is the richest African American man in the country with a net worth of $5 billion dollars according to the Austin Business Journal.

Smith made national headlines after announcing his pledge during the commencement speech where he received an honorary doctorate to a shocked audience of nearly 400 plus graduates and those in attendance over the weekend at Morehouse College an historically black university in Atlanta according to The Austin American Stateman.

The total size of Smith's gift is unknown but estimates range from the $10 million range, to $40 million. - via Austin Business Journal
