Legendary R&B group New Edition and Chicago native Chance the Rapper will be honored at this year's BET Awards.

BET will present this year's Lifetime Achievement Award to New Edition and Chance the Rapper will receive the Humanitarian Award presented by Walmart. New Edition members Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell, and Ralph Tresvant, all received praise when their self-titled biopic aired on BET back in January.

In a three-part miniseries, fans got a chance to see the story behind the group's formation, their success and a series of events that led to the group splitting up and ultimately getting back together. This was BET's first scripted music-focused program. Some of the group's hits include "Candy Girl," "Mr. Telephone Man," and "Cool It Now."

As for Chance the Rapper, he's used his success to give back to the community. He made headlines in early March when he donated $1 million to Chicago Public Schools to support the arts and after-school programming. Back in 2015 Chance raised $60,000 in 10 days for Chicago's homeless during the wintertime.

He celebrated his 24th birthday by raising over $100,000 and donating it to SocialWorks, a non-profit group that he co-founded to help empower the youth through arts, education, and civic engagement. He recently won Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Album for Coloring Book.

The 2017 BET Awards, hosted by Leslie Jones, will air live on June 25 at 8 p.m. ET. And will include performances by Tamar Braxton, Trey Songz, Bruno Mars, Future, Migos and many more.
