This Interactive Map Shows The Best Places To Hunt For Morels

It's the perfect time of year to head out into the woods and do some morel mushroom hunting!  The last several years, the DNR has released a map with the best hunting grounds for morel mushrooms and this year's map has more locations than ever before.

Michigan is one of the best states for morel hunting and this is the best time of year to do it.  You don't need to be a professional mushroom hunter to find yourself some morels.  If you are out camping, fishing, hiking, biking, or just enjoying nature, all you have to do is keep an eye out and you might spot one.

Morels love to grow in wooded areas especially ones with large burn sites where jack, white or red pines were found.
