A former Muskegon Firefighter gets recognized and a top emergency vehicle mechanic.

According to WZZM, a former Muskegon Fire Department firefighter for over two decades has be presented an award for his mechanical and technical abilities to make sure that emergency responders vehicles were in top notch shape so folks could to their job right and safely.

Brian Marek received the Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year Award while at a fire department safety conference in Arizona. The award was presented to Marek by Firehouse Magazine and Spartan Emergency Response.

The Spartan Emergency Response president says he along with all at his company were honored to present Marek with the EVT Award.

In a press release from Todd Fierro, "he has demonstrated leadership throughout his 21 year career, forming Michigan's first EVT association, and committing his spare time to mentor and share his expertise with others throughout the industry."

Marek has recently retired from the Muskegon Fire Department. During the 21 years working for the fire department, Marek became a master EVT in fire apparatus, ambulance and aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles.
