Usher, Nelson Mandela’s Grandson to be Guests of Honor at Davos Dinner
Usher and Nelson Mandela's grandson, Kweku Mandela, will be guests of honor at a dinner at Davos. The dinner will be hosted by Hugh Evans of Global Citizen, Page Six reports.
Reportedly, Miroslav Lajčák, president of the UN General Assembly, will give the welcome speech. The dinner will honor “advocates, heads of state and activists” at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Alpine town on January 24. It will also celebrate the late Mandela and his influence.
Usher's philanthropy is well known, particularly his work with kids through his New Look Foundation, which he founded nearly 20 years ago, back in 1999. The organization's aim is to "transform the lives of underserved youth through a 10-year comprehensive program that develops passion-driven, global leaders."
Programs through Usher's New Look include training 175 students in Dominican Republic with Ford back in 2016, and partnering with Get Schooled to create online digital badge activity, reaching more than 7,000 outside students.
The World Economic Forum will take place on Jan. 24.
