Weather in Nice but…DNR Restricts Outdoor Burning

Yes the weather is finally nice but hold your horses if you are thinking of burning some leaves and sticks that have piled up in your yard over the winter. These are very dry conditions and with the wind, this has elevated the risk of fire for most of the state.

According to WZZM, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is asking everyone to be very careful and to restrict your outdoor burning for Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Red Flag Warning that starts at 8 a.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Here is a list of counties that are affected: Allegan, Barry, Calhoun, Clare, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, Ottawa and Van Buren.

The Department of Natural Resources fire prevention specialists, Paul Rogers said, "We are currently seeing a significant increase in wildfire activity. We are asking residents to restrict outdoor burning due to dry conditions."

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday temperatures are expected to hit 80 degrees with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour.
