Where are the Most Dangerous Cities in Michigan?
Did you know that Michigan is known for being home to some of the most dangerous cities in the United States?
There are actually several dangerous cities where it's too dangerous to even walk outside at night, according to FBI crime reports.
I've lived in Lansing all of my life and I know there are really nice and safe areas in the Greater Lansing area. On the other hand, I think it's a good idea if we share more about Lansing Township.
Take a look at the following information provided by covesmart.com:
Lansing Township is the 12th most dangerous city in Michigan. Lansing Township is safer than only 7 percent of American cities, meaning that 93 percent of the United States is safer than Lansing Township. Lansing has a fairly large population of over 118,427 people, and with the large population comes a high crime rate. The cities overall crime rate is 4,173 crimes per 100,000 people. The most common crime in the city is theft, with 2,308 isolated reports of theft. The violent crime rate is 1,115 violent crimes per 100,000 people, and the property crime rate is 3,058 crimes per 100,000 people.
Even the city of Flint, Michigan, made the list of one of the most dangerous cities in all of Michigan.
There are roughly over 90,000 people that live in Flint Township. If we take a look at the crime rate, there are over 1,700 violent crimes and over 2,500 property crimes reported every year.
Unfortunately there is a lot of gang activity and drug abuse in the city of Flint. In fact there is the possibility of being a victim of a violent crime or a victim of property damage.
Here's what covesmart.com had to say about Flint Township:
Essentially, stay away from Flint at night and don’t come to this city unless you know where you’re going.
Let's take a look at one more Michigan city that's considered dangerous, Jackson! The population of Jackson stands at over 30,000 people. Jackson has a high rate of violent crime and property crime..
According to covesmart.com:
There is a 1 in 84 chance that residents will be victims of violent crimes.
No one wants to become a victim of violent crime or property crime. For that matter, any crime at all. But a lot of research focused on crime in at least 15 Michigan cities. If you would like to see the rest of them, please click on the above link.
