Why Do People in West Michigan Love Food Trucks So Much?
Food truck season kicks off this weekend, but why do people in West Michigan love food trucks so much?
What Is A Food Truck?
A food truck is exactly what its name says it is, a large motorized vehicle that can be a van, truck, or even on the back of a trailer that is equipped to prepare, cook, serve, and sell food.
You can get almost anything from a food truck from burgers, hot dogs, french fries, barbeque, ice cream, frozen ice, pizza, tacos, burritos, fish, and specialty foods from a variety of different cultures. The possibilities are endless.
Why Do People Love Food Trucks?
I used to work at a plastic factory and one of the highlights every day was when the food truck would show up. This particular food truck was more like a store on wheels, it had a big variety of prepackaged items plus plenty of food that was hot and ready for lunch. It was quick and convenient and it made me look forward to lunch. Now that is why I like food trucks, but it seems West Michigan is crazy about the food truck,s and below are the top reasons why.
Food Trucks Provide Great-Tasting Food
Food trucks have come a long way since I was getting lunch from one at work. Now you can get food from all over the world and there are even food truck festivals that happen every year all over the state of Michigan.
One of the biggest reasons food trucks are loved in West Michigan is the food is delicious. Most of the local food trucks use ingredients that are fresh and sometimes grown or raised right here in the area. Plus a lot of the local food truck owners are very skilled chefs whose passion is making and serving great food to their customers.
Food Trucks Sell Food at a Great Price
Food trucks are really advanced these days and food options can be at a much higher level with many offering gourmet options. Normally high-quality food comes at a high price but because the truck owner doesn't have to have a huge staff or a building those savings get passed down to you.
Food Trucks Are a Great Way To Try Something New
I can't tell you how many times the first time I tried a particular food item it came from a food truck. I tried some wood stone pizza about a year ago and it blew my mind.
If you attend any of the food truck festivals that happen in West Michigan, you will be amazed at the variety of cuisines to choose from and I encourage you to try something new. Don't worry there will be plenty of the foods you already love available.
The great thing about food trucks is you can walk right up to the kitchen and ask the chef about the food. While you are there you get to see it prepared, plus smell it, and sometimes they will even give you a little sample upon request. Plus, one of the great things about food trucks is they like to experiment so you can often get something you cannot get in a traditional restaurant.
Food Trucks are Convenient
You cannot get more convenient than a food truck unless you are wealthy and have your own chef at your disposal. Where there is a large group of people gathering in West Michigan there is usually a food truck or two nearby.
All summer long there are events and where there is an event there are food trucks. Food truck festivals are great too because you have dozens of trucks with lots of varieties of food to choose from. Unlike trying to find an area with 30 different restaurants next to each other, it's not going to happen, but if you get 30 food trucks together, you have some delicious options just steps away from one another.
Food Trucks Bring People Together
One thing food trucks do is bring people together. I don't know how many times I have asked someone, "Hey, is that good?", and the next thing you know I'm having a nice conversation with an absolute stranger.
There is just a positive vibe that food trucks bring to any event. You smell that food and you feel good and when you get some in your belly, you feel even better. I firmly believe food trucks just create an atmosphere at any event. Most everyone near a food truck has a smile on their face.
