Why The NHL Won’t Let The Detroit Red Wings Play Until After Christmas
If you're looking for the Detroit Red Wings on TV this week you won't see them playing.
The NHL has shut down the Detroit Red Wings and is not allowing them to play until after the NHL Christmas break which will end Sunday, December 26th.
The reason why the Detroit Red Wings are shut down and not allowed to play until after then is because of players and staff testing positive for Covid-19.
The NHL announced Sunday that "due to concern with the number of positive cases within the last several days," the Red Wings' games are postponed through at least the completion of the holiday break in the league's schedule on Dec. 26.

Will The NHL Season Be Cancelled?
Former Detroit Red Wings captain and current GM Steve Yzerman recently questioned why the league is testing players that are not even showing any symptoms.
In a recent media session, Yzerman talked about the Covid-19 protocols and the team shutdowns.
“Players are testing positive with very little symptoms, if any symptoms at all,” “I don’t see it as a threat to their health at this point, so I think you might take it a step further and question why are we even testing for guys that have no symptoms?”
The Detroit Red Wings are currently in 4th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 15-13-3.
The next scheduled game for the Detroit Red Wings is on Monday, December 27th in New York vs the Rangers.
