Wishbone House Cat Shelter & Thrift Store May Have To Close
A West Michigan cat rescue is in imminent danger of closing down after over a decade of serving the community. But it wants to reach out to the community before shutting its doors for good.

Also please share to anyone in the Douglas/Saugatuck communities and surrounding communities to attend our town hall meeting on the 21st. At this time we have 19 cats that need adoptions and/or foster homes.
Why is the Wishbone Cat Rescue Closing?
According to those at the rescue, the Thrift Store is simply not generating the funds needed to maintain the building and continue the cat rescue. The building needs some repairs along with general maintenance.
When is the Wishbone House meeting?
The Wishbone House is holding a community meeting to discuss the issues that may close the doors of the Cat Shelter & Thrift Store. The meeting will be held in Saugatuck at Coral Gables. The community meeting will be at 7pm on September 21st inside the Crow Bar at 220 Water St.
Where will the cats go if the Wishbone House in Douglas closes?
Currently, the cats housed in the Wishbone House's multiple cage-free cat rooms and kitten cottage will not have space in the Allegan County Animal Shelter, so their future is up in the air.

In 2011, we opened Wishbone House in Douglas. The facility is a thrift shop (with proceeds going toward Wishbone) and also an adoption site, primarily for cats. Wishbone House even has three cage-free cat-petting rooms! The facility also serves as headquarters for Wishbone Pet Rescue Alliance.
