The Better Business Bureau has issued a warning about the HiTe Media Group, which lists its address at a UPS store in Muskegon. The BBB says that the group has left a trail of "dissatisfied grant seekers who report paying thousands of dollars for information on how to qualify for grants, but don't receive any grants as a result of a book and some phone training supplied by the company."

The company has reportedly promised people large grants that take anywhere from 90 days to 2 years to receive. When the money didn't come in, folks complained to the BBB.

HiTe Media Group has not responded to the claims.

Here are some of the recent complaints about the company filed with the BBB:

  • "I sent them a total of $4,900 ... about receiving a grant...explained to me I would qualify for a grant of approximately $84,000, but could take up to two years to receive!"

  • "They took my money and won't answer their phones or return my calls. They promised me they would be able to get me a grant to pay off my bills and make some home improvements. They sent me some stupid questionnaire and said we were good to go. After several months of not being able to reach anyone I filed a complaint with BBB. At which point they contacted me and gave me a different number to call. This number worked for a short time. For the last several months I have only gotten a recording. I leave messages and ask for a return call that I never get."

  • "I got a call ...concerning grant money...to join the program he asked for $2,450, which I paid through PayPal. She told me it will take 90 days or one year for the grant to go through.  As the weeks go on, I keep calling and calling and no one answers the phone."

  • "Paid them $1,700 and nothing done. It's been since April haven't heard anything."
