It is Easter Weekend, so there are a lot of activities like Easter Egg Hunts, Church Services and Easter Brunch. It’s Bunnies to Butterflies, Bikes, Basketball and Hockey, Trains, Taxes, and Home Renovations.
Some activities include the kids, while others are more for the adults.

Butterflies Are Blooming

The annual Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition at Meijer Gardens is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the nation. Tropical butterflies from around the world fly freely in the Tropical Conservatory in March and April. Throughout the exhibition, there is special educational programming and the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden offers butterfly-themed activities.

Dirty 30 Gravel Bicycle Race
Ionia County, 39 Irv Taylor Ave, Saranac, MI
Saturday, March 31st, 2018 - Race starts at 9:00 am
Cost: $65 for the 30 mile race, $50 for the 15 mile race
The Dirty Thirty gravel bike race course consists of almost 90% gravel roads, the largest percentage of gravel compared to other gravel grinder bike races in West Michigan. The first half of the course heads east into the open farm country, offering a combination of gently rolling hills and pancake flat gravel roads. The second half of the course brings you west into a hillier and more forested section of the course.

There are several Easter Egg Hunts scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. Many churches will have special services on Sunday. And you can follow that with brunch at one of the area restaurants that are serving up an Easter Brunch. Spend Spring Break at the Grand Rapids Public Museum for a special visit to Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids and additional hands-on activities! Grand Valley State University Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program assists low-income community members to complete their income tax returns, as a free service open to the public. Last year, volunteers assisted over 140 individuals in filing their tax returns!

The Grand Rapids Model Railroad Historical Society has found a new home for their train show. This is the railroad club that used host the early October train show at the old Holland Civic Center. This train show will be located at the 4 Mile Showplace (old Duthler Family Foods building) on 4 Mile Rd. They have their layout setup, so check out their running trains while checking out the new show!

We are down to the Final Four! In the first game, that starts at 6:09 pm, it will be #3 University of Michigan against #11 Loyola. The game that starts at 8:49 pm will be #1 Kansas vs. #1 Villanova. Many bars and restaurants will be having parties to watch the games. There will be several private parties as well. Check with your favorite establishment or friends to see what they have planned.
