ArtPrize continues along with a few other festivals. We have music, a pumpkin train, a chance to adopt a furry family member, chances to see the taping of a TV show, an opportunity to run on the airport runway and more!.

The winners will be announced on Friday evening at Rosa Park Circle from 7-9 pm. You then have the rest of the weekend to check out the winners, as well as all the other installations throughout the city.

Pulaski Days was founded in 1973 by Ed Czyzyk and Walter Ulanch as a way to support the local social clubs by sharing Polish culture with the entire Grand Rapids community. The annual event has now grown into a week-long celebration to be shared with friends, family, and strangers alike. There will be activities at several of the halls this weekend. The Parade is Saturday morning at 11 am on Michigan from College Avenue to Diamond Avenue.

Get out your Red Flannel and head to Cedar Springs for their big Red Flannel Festival. There will be carnival rides, a car show, a pancake breakfast, a talent show, a parade, music and more.

Trivium Racing will be teaming up with Gerald R. Ford International Airport to bring you the GRR Runway 5k! Athletes will start by running through the tunnel that goes under a runway, then head out onto one of the major airport runways for a lightning fast 5K race! The Make a Wish Foundation of Michigan will benefit from a portion of the proceeds.

The Famous Pumpkin Train

This is a yearly fall tradition that is not to be missed! Passengers are entertained during the journey by
The Grand Pumpkin, Scarecrow and Little Crow. A cast of wacky characters love to sing and dance for you. Each paid child's ticket includes a free, locally grown, good-sized Pumpkin that the kids can pick from the Pumpkin Patch at the end of the ride. Children under 2 yrs ride free and also get a small size Pumpkin.

Empty the Shelters

In efforts to make a significant impact on the homeless pet population, Bissell Pet Foundation is hosting Empty the Shelters. The Bissell Pet Foundation will pay for all pet adoptions at 100+ shelter and rescue organizations across the country. All potential adopters are screened by qualified adoption counselors at every participating shelter to ensure each pet is matched with the right family. Last year they saved 3,135 lives in just one day. Together we can continue these life-saving efforts until every pet has a home. Several shelters here in West Michigan will be participating. Bark in the Dark

All proceeds from this family & dog friendly 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk benefit animals in need at Humane Society of West Michigan. The event features family fun activities including: balloon animals, face painting, a pup-a-razzi photo booth, and the Independent Bank dog costume contest before the run/walk, and is followed by music, snacks, and a beer tent featuring local beer, wine, & hard cider after the race!

Netflix Original Series "American Road Trip" Taping

The Netflix Original Series “American Road Trip” will be stopping by a few west Michigan locations this weekend to do some taping for future shows. On Saturday they will be in Byron Center at Pete's Grill and Tavern 5:00-7:00 pm. Then it’s off to the Beltline Bar in Wyoming from 10:00 pm to midnight on Saturday night. On Sunday, they are scheduled to be at Rockwell Republic in Grand Rapids from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 pm.

Light the Night

The Light The Night Walk funds life-saving research and support for people battling cancer. Friends, families and co-workers form teams to fundraise while bringing light to the darkness of cancer. These efforts culminate in an inspirational, memorable evening walk where participants carry illuminated lanterns: white for survivors, red in support and gold in memory of a lost loved one. Festivities include music, food, ceremonies, and lots of family fun followed by a short 1 mile walk.
