Police in Grand Rapids spent hours during a standoff with a suspect and when they entered the house, police were unable to locate the person they were looking for.

According to WOOD TV, police were called early Wednesday morning to a home in the 100 block of Dale Street between Monroe and Center avenues. A witness made the call when she saw a 27-year-old man point a gun at a 34-year-old woman.

Both the man and the woman involved in the incident had warrants issued against them for previous offenses.

Police were finally able to clear the house in the 7 a.m. hour. They found the woman hiding inside and arrested her due to the outstanding warrants. Police did not locate the man who was allegedly the woman's boyfriend.

Police believe the man had fled the scene prior to their arrival. Police have not named the suspect or released a description of him yet.

The woman has four children between the ages of 2 and 13. Fortunately, the children had been removed from the house much earlier in the morning and we not harmed.

Police are still in search of the male suspect.
