Around 930 Temporary GM Employees Were Made Full-time Monday

Good news for almost 930 GM temporary hourly employees, who were told Monday that they would be going from temporary hourly employees to regular full-time employees, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The announcement came as surprise to workers in 32 of the 52 facilities that are represented by the UAW.  As you may remember, the UAW went on a 40-day strike back, which ended in October.

According to Detroit Free Press, this is in line with the deals that GM and the UAW agreed to when ending the nationwide strike last year. The four-year contract that was agreed upon said that temporary employees with at least 3 years of service would become full-time.

The UAW is hoping to get more employees into full-time, the Free Press says that thousands of employees at GM are still temporary with no real word on when they'll be made full-time.
