Grand Rapids Burger Kings Attempt To Lure Workers In With Funny Signs
Some Burger Kings around GR are tossing some humor on their signs to get help, but will it work?
The fast food employee shortage is getting real.
As it gets harder and harder to find help, some restaurants are resorting to clever puns and jokes on their signs to help find qualified people. I'm not sure it's working.
Let's start with this BK on 28th Street dropping some modern lingo in an attempt to get young people's attention.
According to Urban Dictionary, when someone writes “no cap,” it “basically means that they're not lying or 'capping' like they did something” . In other words, people say “no cap” to convey that they're being totally and completely honest.
I'm not sure anyone doubts they have job openings, but let's move onto our next sign, which is a wee bit weirder.
Now this BK is stretching it out a little to imply that the Burger King can be your "sugar daddy" if you work there.
I'm not sure they understand what a 'sugar daddy' is, so this sign falls far short of the mark.
A 'sugar daddy' is an older man who will pay for the lifestyle and needs of a younger woman in exchange for 'companionship'.
It has other meanings which I'm going to ignore for now, but the implication that the creepy Burger King mascot wants you to be his 'sugar daddy' is downright frightening.
In the end, I would say it's probably better to can the jokes and offer either more pay, more incentives, or just promise to treat employees well, and you may find that is what people are looking for.
