Foodie Alert! Cava is Opening in Detroit—Here’s What You Need to Know
While Grand Rapids has great food options already, we can never be mad with more!
Back home in D.C., I used to go to this particular restaurant consistently. At least once a week, I was walking into the establishments. I have also brought friends to good food light.
So imagine my surprise, when I heard that the restaurant is making its Michigan debut!

Cava In Detroit
For Michigan residents, you might not know what Cava is. The best way I can describe is a Mediterranean-inspired, Chipotle-style restaurant.
With ingredients like Honey Harissa chicken, various hummus options, tzatziki, falafel, and roasted veggies, Cava is my one true food love.
Founder in Maryland in 2006, Cava also you to craft your meal from a wide range of different base options like grains or greens, toppings, and sauces to make the perfect personal bowl for you.
I would share my recipe but that would be giving away all of my secrets!
Thankfully, Cava is planning to expand to Michigan, by way of Detroit.
@metrodetroitnewsCAVA, a popular restaurant chain, plans to open its first Michigan locations. One is proposed for downtown Detroit at 636 Woodward Avenue in a 3,000-square-foot ground-floor space, according to WhatNowDetroit. The other is being discussed in the Canton area. CAVA, founded in Maryland in 2006, specializes in customizable bowls, pitas, and sides featuring fresh Mediterranean ingredients like hummus, falafel, and harissa. The chain has grown to over 375 locations across the U.S. (news & information release only) ♬ In My Mind - Skeler
WhatNowDetroit shared that the Cava has proposed opening in downtown Detroit at 636 Woodward Ave or in the Canton area.
With the (hopeful) success of this first location in Detroit, I would like to plead the case for Grand Rapids to have the next Michigan location.
Why Cava's Next Michigan Location Should Be In Grand Rapids
Since Grand Rapids is the second-largest city in Michigan, why would you not plan to expand further in another large area?
Plus, we are a foodie city so if Cava wants Michigan's support, Grand Rapids is a great testing ground.
With all of the events that happen year-round, plenty of tourists come to visit. So not only will locals get to experience the good taste of Cava, but tourists will too and will hopefully request a Cava in their local towns.
As Cava's number one fan, I would love to see Cava expand in Grand Rapids. If I manifest hard enough and it happens, you're welcome in advance.
