CMU Student Saves Squirrel With CPR [Video]
They say watching too much TV can be a bad thing. Not for Natalie Belsito, a CMU student who recently saved a squirrel's life thanks to an episode of 'The Office'.
It may or may not be common knowledge that the rhythm of the song 'Stayin' Alive' by the BeeGees is exactly the right tempo to perform chest compressions on a victim with no heartbeat.
That premise resulted in an hilarious scene in the classic NBC sit-com 'The Office' in which Michael Scott teaches CPR to his underlings by singing the song while working on a dummy.
It turns out Natalie Belsito was paying attention during that episode, because when she stumbled upon a squirrel lying face down in a CMU campus pond, she sprung into action.
It worked! She saved the squirrel and that squirrel is telling his rodent friends a tale they will never believe this morning.
Just in case you ever find yourself in a similar situation, here's a video to teach you the basics of CPR with comedian KenJeong, who is a real life doctor.
