After three and a half years in business, downtown Grand Rapids' only hybrid beer store and bar is shutting its doors.

Craft Beer Cellar announced the news on Facebook, saying they'd be closing once they were able to sell all their inventory.

Brian Beaucher and his wife Jessica Beeby opened Craft Beer Cellar 404 Ionia Ave. in March of 2017. Beaucher told MLive at the time,

"Our goal is to be able to sell beer in any legal way possible. There were no good bottle shops in downtown Grand Rapids, so we saw this as a great opportunity to provide one...You'll be able to mix your own six-pack, open and drink it in our store. This is a newer concept for downtown. It's more of a cafe style than a restaurant. We're hoping for a very casual and relaxing feeling."

In their post to Facebook, the owners thanked their staff and everyone who patronized the store, saying,

"You are what kept us fighting as hard as possible to keep this place going. We'll terribly miss all of our regulars who bellied up to the bar."

As far as the reason for the closure, they say it's a "combination of factors" and "CCOVID has definitely played its part", as they had to close the bar portion of the store for months.

On the positive side, they just got their outdoor commons area license this week, and patrons can now enjoy drinks outside.

They also say that everything in the store is 10% off and drafts are 25% off:

"We'll be raiding our cellar, especially our kegs of rare releases. Look out for some sweet deals over the next few weeks."

Last call!

Dearest beer geeks. It is with heavy hearts that we announce we're closing our doors. We'll be open however...
