Grand Rapids Civic Theatre Announces Exciting New Season

Since 2023, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre has become my second home in Grand Rapids.

You are not alone if you are excited about the upcoming Grand Rapids Civic Theatre season!

The time has come! Here is the 2025-2026 season!

Rock of Ages

Kicking off the new season on September 12, 2025, until October 5, 2025, you can take a trip back to the ‘80s: Rock of Ages will transport audiences to the time of big hair, big egos, and big guitar solos!

This Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical about a group of rockers attempting to save their beloved Sunset Strip features the hits of REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Journey, Twisted Sister, and more.

Pete The Cat

Based on the book series by Kimberly and James Dean, Pete the Cat transports delightful and playful characters to Paris and back in a VW Bus!

Pete the Cat is the perfect show for the entire family to enjoy. Plus, the entire run of Pete The Cat is “Pick Your Price," which allows the community to experience live theatre – maybe for the very first time – with a manageable price point that audience members decide.

Pete the Cat is running from October 14th - 19th, 2025, with school matinees on Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm, and public performances on Thursday and Friday at 6:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

Disney's Frozen

Get ready to unleash your inner Elsa and Anna! Set for Civic's beloved holiday show, Disney’s Frozen includes all the film’s beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written exclusively for the stage.

This Tony Award nominee for Best Musical, which runs November 14 - December 14, 2025, is "full of magic and humor with a powerful tale of sisterhood, acceptance, and finding the real meaning of true love."

Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Fats Waller Musical

Kick off 2026 with the jazzy hit: Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Fats Waller Musical.

This musical is "a saucy, sultry musical celebration of legendary jazz great, Fats Waller."

Ain't Misbehavin' evokes the delightful humor and infectious energy of this American original as a versatile cast struts, strums, and sings the songs that he made famous in a career that ranged from uptown clubs to downtown Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood and concert stages in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Performances are January 16 - February 1, 2026.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical

With the hype of the new Disney+ show, plus the beloved book series, it makes perfect sense to bring this musical to West Michigan.

When teenager Percy Jackson discovers he's a demigod, he and his friends embark on an epic journey to find Zeus' missing lightning bolt and prevent a war among the gods.

Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure that will electrify audiences from February 27 - March 15, 2026.

Dial M for Murder

It may be familiar to some, however, this show comes with a twist!

Frederick Knott’s Dial M for Murder is the celebrated murder mystery that inspired Hitchcock’s masterpiece, and Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of this thriller set in the 1950s has a fresh feel for today’s audiences.

Civic audiences will be on the edge of their seats from April 17 - May 3, 2026.

Legally Blonde The Musical

Legally Blonde The Musical is my personal favorite out of the entire season! Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde The Musical is guaranteed to be a hit for the Greater Grand Rapids community!

Plus, with the hype of the announced Elle Woods prequel, it seems to be the perfect time for a Legally Blonde moment.

To close out the 99th season, Civic audiences will be seeing pink with Legally Blonde The Musical!

Previously seen on the Civic stage in 2013, Legally Blonde will once again have audience members celebrating graduation season and using legal jargon in everyday life from June 5 - 28, 2026.
