It's All About The Weather
Storm Team 8 recently debuted their new weather tracking center.
In West Michigan, the quickly changing weather always takes center stage. And so do the meteorologists who deliver it.
- Ginger Zee-The former WOOD TV meteorologist and Rockford High School grad is now famously the chief meteorologist for ABC News and Good Morning America and she broadcasts across ABC News broadcast and digital platforms. Additionally, Zee hosts an ABC News original digital series “Food Forecast.” She has showcased her skills on "Dancing With The Stars". This year, Zee helped Ryan Seacrest ring in the new year on ABC'c New Years Rocking Eve. Zee is the Grand Rapids pro who moved up to the majors!
- Matt Kirkwood-With WOOD TV, you can find Kirkwood on “News 8 Daybreak” and “News 8 at Noon” on weekdays. The life-long Michigander has been recognized by The Mother Nature Network as one of "America's hottest weather forecasters". Kirkwood was praised for his "warm blue eyes and a jaw so square that it could probably break a cinderblock."
- Ellen Bacca-She's been part of Storm Team 8 since the fall of 2014 and was recently named as the first female Chief Meteorologist in Grand Rapids. Bacca was selected as one of the only broadcast meteorologists in the country to participate in the National Severe Storms Laboratory Hazardous Weather Testbed study to test the next generation of tornado and severe storm warnings. You can also find her latest efforts of fun on TikTok where she amassed thousands of views in a very short time.
