The pandemic may have put a hold on the 2020-21 season, but the Teddy Bear Toss is still on! It's tonight at the Griffs Ice House.

While the joy of tossing a teddy bear onto the ice has been taken away from us, there are still kids who need a teddy bear this Christmas.

So the Teddy Bear Toss will take on a new form, you can toss a new Teddy Bear or stuffed animal from your car to Griffins personnel manning the pick up in front of the Griffs Ice House on Coldbrook Street from 5 until 7pm tonight.

The stuffed toys will benefit the Billy Bear Hug Foundation, which provides stuffed toys to children with critical illnesses in West Michigan.

The team will also be accepting canned goods and non-perishable food items for Feeding America West Michigan and cash or check donations for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle drive.

“We’re thrilled to be able to carry on the tradition of our hugely popular Teddy Bear Toss, which has seen our fans donate more than 60,000 stuffed animals over the last 20 years,” said Bob Kaser, the Griffins’ vice president of community relations and broadcasting. “And with so many people in West Michigan facing hardships this year, it’s also important for us to come together and continue helping organizations like The Salvation Army and Feeding America that do so much good in our community.”

In the meantime, let's relive the joy of a Teddy Bear Toss at Van Andel Arena from 2017.
