Have You Seen Michigan’s Favorite Horror Movie?
As we approach Halloween, what better way to get in the holiday spirit than with a good scary movie?
Between the classics and today's horror movies, we've all got our favorites; so Streaming Observer looked at a few different factors including Rotten Tomatoes and Google Trends to find each state's favorite horror movie. The most popular is The Silence of the Lambs because who doesn't love a brain for dinner with a side of fava beans? Also popular in America, The Exorcist and Shaun of the Dead.
However, I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I've never seen let alone heard of Near Dark, the supposed favorite amongst Michiganders. The 1987 film starring Bill Paxton (RIP) is a vampire flick about the complications of a man and female vampire's relationship. Unlike Twilight, the vampires don't sparkle in this movie. According to Wikipedia, the movie didn't do well at the box office but is considered to be a cult-classic.
Out of all the horror movies out there, I'm not sure why Near Dark is Michigan's favorite but they are the only state who feels strongly about the movie. The study also found that Michigan has a very high interest in horror movies. With that said, couldn't we have chosen something better?
