Ice Cube is scheduled to appear on Real Time with Bill Maher this Friday (June 9) amid the host’s recent controversy. Over the weekend, Maher apologized for saying the N-Word live on his show last week.

On Monday (Jan. 5), another scheduled guest, Sen. Al Franken, dropped out clearly due to the fallout over Maher’s comments. However, a representative for Cube said that the veteran rapper will appear on Maher’s show to promote the 25th anniversary edition of his second album, Death Certificate. The rep added that Cube was already booked for the show before the recent controversy.

The rep also told TMZ that Cube is eager to confront Maher about the N-word and talk about Death Certificate, "which sadly, speaks to many of the same race issues we as a society are still dealing with today."

If there's anyone who could confront Bill Maher and properly put him in check about the N-word is Ice Cube. It will be interesting to see how Cube and Maher will discuss the topic.

Symone Sanders, an activist and former national press secretary for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, also plans to appear on the show.

“I am still planning on doing the show Friday,” she wrote in an email (via HuffPost). “I thought Maher’s comment, Ben Sasse’s reaction and the crowd’s applause were all equally distasteful, inappropriate and offensive. I am glad Maher too recognized as such and issued an apology.”

Real Time with Bill Maher will air on Friday at 10PM ET on HBO.
