A Bigfoot Sighting Sends An Ohio School District Into Lockdown

A Bigfoot sighting recently caused a school lockdown in Ohio.

On May 3, 2024, a school district in Lorain County, Ohio was forced to go into lockdown after a person dressed as Bigfoot was spotted on the school campus.

According to reports, the unidentified individual parked in the school's parking lot and crossed the campus while wearing a "menacing-looking Bigfoot" costume.

Officials believe the person in the Bigfoot costume was a parent who came to the school as part of a "prom prank."

While some found the situation humorous, the superintendent did not, he issued this statement.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This afternoon, an unannounced visitor came to the campus dressed in costume.

This individual parked in one of our lots, crossed our campus and caused the district to enter into a lockdown. During this time, some students at our elementary school were outside and had to move quickly inside to safety. The school day was negatively impacted and although lockdown drills are practiced regularly, the situation caused understandable concern and disruption. At no point did this individual gain entry into any of our buildings.

While some people may make light of the situation, the fact remains that we cannot waiver from the side of safety.

Our staff responded promptly and SRO Trifiletti’s quick response led him to the suspect, off campus, on Vermilion Road.

This individual induced panic on our campus and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

The school resource officer was able to pull the person over as part of a traffic stop.

According to Captain Daniel Ashdown with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, a report will be sent to the Oberlin prosecutor for review and to determine if charges will be pressed.

School lockdowns are no joke, but I hope the prosecutor doesn't bring any charges against a parent that was doing a silly prank.
